Without the right treatment, life with hereditary angioedema (HAE) is not easy. If you constantly worry about experiencing attacks that are disruptive to your everyday life, HAEGARDA may be right for you.
As a preventive therapy, HAEGARDA can effectively reduce the number of HAE attacks you experience. In a clinical study, HAEGARDA reduced HAE attacks by 95%.
You should always have HAE rescue medication available at all times in case of a breakthrough attack.

C1-INH is a key protein in your body that controls swelling. If you’re missing C1-INH, or if the C1-INH you have is not working properly, an HAE attack can occur.
Since HAEGARDA is injected subcutaneously, it is absorbed and processed slowly, and it helps your working C1-INH levels stay high.
This keeps swelling from getting out of control and prevents most HAE attacks from happening in the first place.
HAE attacks can occur when your levels of working C1-INH are too low.
HAEGARDA adds working C1-INH to your body.
HAEGARDA brings your working C1-INH levels back up and closer to normal, reducing your risk of an HAE attack.
Your dose of HAEGARDA is based on your body weight, so you get the dose you need to prevent attacks.
With HAEGARDA, you have the option to inject in one of several places on your body: abdomen, upper arms, or thighs.
For site rotation purposes, the 4 quadrants of the abdomen can each be considered a seperate "site"
This is an example of HAEGARDA 60 IU/kg dosing for someone who weighs about 175 lb. Your doctor will determine what your dose is based on your weight.
|Volume of HAEGARDA||About 10 mL|
|Dosing Schedule||One dose once every 3 to 4 days|
•To self-administer HAEGARDA, you will need to prepare your dose by adding sterile water to concentrated medicine
Starting any new medication takes some time to get used to. It’s important to keep in mind that it may take a few weeks to get used to self-administration with HAEGARDA. Over time, you’ll find that self-injection becomes much easier.
The most common side effects with HAEGARDA were redness, swelling at the injection site, itching and rash, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and dizziness
We understand that you want the medications you take to meet the highest safety and quality standards. That’s why HAEGARDA goes through an advanced screening and purification process to reduce the risk of transmitting infection.
For over 65 years, we’ve been developing products with human plasma. During this time we’ve developed systems of collection, manufacturing, and distribution that meet high quality and safety standards.*
* The risk of transmission of infectious agents cannot be completely eliminated.
